The Contextual Factors Of Selecting Professional Manager In International Hotel Industry In Jakarta, Indonesia

MNCs (Multinational Corporations) consistently ensure that their subsidiaries are managed by individuals (i.e., senior managers) who fits with their strategy to lead the company. However, having multiple stakeholders resulted in various preferences in selecting these senior managers in order to align with their brand image. This study aims to explore the contextual factors of professional management advancement in MNC subsidiaries. They are focusing on the semi-structured interviews from four different actors (i.e., expatriate managers, local managers, regional executive, and policymaker), which conducted in the context of international hotel subsidiaries in Jakarta, Indonesia. The result reveals that there are still some constraints from various stakeholders in making decisions that would lead the subsidiaries due to past heritage history in Indonesia.
