The Repercussions And Challenges Of Covid-19 In The Hotel Industry: Potential Strategies From A Case Study Of Indonesia

The Covid-19 pandemic provides a crisis management to the hospitality industry. Hotel
managers are forced to face this crisis by a storm. This exploration of the crisis management
of Covid-19 would provide a beneficial strive to the hospitality industry. This study lays the
complexity surrounding the problems faced by international and local hotels in Indonesia.
Through the lens of complexity theory, we discuss whether the strategies are fit with hotel
industry. We aimed to conduct in-depth interviews with 15 senior hotel managers, in Jakarta,
Bandung, and Bali. The findings also highlight the strategies and risk management that the
managers are deploying. The contribution theoretically and practically would be helpful for the
hotel companies and all stakeholders.
